Birthday Girl

Birthdays are a great reminder of how many people love you. Just in case you were feeling insignificant or under appreciated, having a birthday helps you realize the wonderful family and friends who surround you. So to all of you, thank you for making it a special day for me. Despite the fact that Matthew is terribly busy right now, and not that great in the whole gift giving department, he gallantly rushed in at the end of the day with a delicious strawberry custard cake and flowers. That's right, my Matthew brought me flowers. He said he never would. Granted it is a potted plant of roses that I am going to desperately try not to kill, but they are flowers and they are beautiful. I love being loved!

Angel Babies

I find myself complaining about the "joys" of motherhood far too often lately. I tend to over look the sweet and wonderful things that happen everyday because the house is a mess 15 minutes after I clean it, there is always laundry to be done and I can't think of what to make for dinner. I forget about the proud look on Evan's face when he wrote his name all by himself, and the unsteady but determined steps Dallin took to find me in the kitchen. The snuggle time I got with Evan and the sweet hug that Dallin always gives me when he just wakes up. I forget the way Evan's eyes twinkle when he smiles at me and the goofy faces that Dallin makes just to hear me laugh. I forget how much I miss them when I am away from them and how much I love to watch their sweet faces when they sleep. I love being a mom and I am so blessed to have a husband who will do everything within his power to make sure that I get to be home with them and not miss a single moment of these early years. I don't want to look back 20 years from now and wish that I had taken more time to read books with Evan or play ball with Dallin. So I'm recommitting myself this Sunday to take more time to enjoy my baby boys because they will be gone before I know it.

Cross Country

Okay - I think I'm pretty much back to normal after our whirlwind of a trip. It was great! My dad rode the Greyhound into SF to drive us to my grandparents home just north of Vegas. We attended a cousins wedding in the St. George temple and spent lots of quality time with G&G Bishop and Grandma Bushman. We saw lots of family and the boys had a blast meeting new cousins and helping Grandpa Great plant his garden and drive his tractor.

They had so much fun being country boys. We drove as far as Tooele, UT and spent sometime with my big sis Bridgette and her family. Stayed the night there and finished the rest of the drive to Meridian. The day we got there was they day my parents were able to open their mission call. It was so fun to be there and I caught everything on tape. We hung out at home for a few days and spent time with my siblings that live there. We saw two new cousins that we hadn't met yet, Bo & Blake. I got to visit with a High School friend, Jenny Young, and get caught up on life. It was such a special treat. Then we drove to Idaho Falls and Blackfoot to attend another cousins wedding. The boys had more fun playing with cousins and I loved seeing lots of my family. We got to visit with Kristee & her kids. We hadn't met Charlie yet, she's a cutie. I was able to hook up with another High School friend I hadn't seen since graduation, Emily Carr, and that was great fun! After the wedding ceremony my dad and I loaded the boys up and drove back to San Francisco so we could be back for church and support Matthew. It was too quick of a trip, I guess because we spent so much time in the car. We figured we spent about 40+ hours in driving in 10 days. That's a lot of for 2 little boys, but they did awesome. It was so great to see so many members of my family. I love them so much and I'm so proud to be part of such a great bunch. We had to put Grandpa Icecream on the bus yesterday and the boys were sure sad to see him go. Thanks so much for everything you guys do for us Mom & Dad.

Big News!!!

A couple of fun things have happened as of late. I've been gone for the last 10 days traveling the countryside with the boys so I have a lot of cute pictures to share. But first I want to say congratulations to my parents. They got their mission call in the mail. I was fortunate enough to be in town and watch them open it and their surprised faces (or not so surprised) when they read that they will be spending the next 20 - 23 months in the Kenya Nairobi mission. Isn't that just wild! I say not so surprised because my mom, the sweet little dear, said she didn't want to go to Siberia or Africa. I guess the Lord just wanted to remind her how mindful he is of her by sending her to the place she didn't want to go. They're excited and it will be fun to hear about their great adventures!

Second, is that Matthew was put into the Bishopric today. He was pretty surprised, and I'll admit I was a bit too. I know he'll be great and that he will grow and develop and become even more amazing then he already his. I love him so much and I'm so proud of him. I know I don't tell him enough how wonderful of a father and husband he is. He's my bestest friend and there is no one I'd rather spend my days with. It's amazing how much our love has changed since the day we married. It just becomes deeper and richer with each trial and success that we experience together. Okay, enough of the cheesy love stuff, but I'm just really happy for him.
