This month started with a bang. The Wolfe's made the trek from Utah so we could party-party, and that we did. Saturday we had dinner and played until bedtime. Sunday we listened to Conference, colored eggs, had an Easter egg hunt and went for a stroll in the nearby forest to enjoy the beautiful day. Monday we were off to the ocean for the kids first time. We hit the Cape Meares lighthouse and Octopus tree before heading my favorite agate beach, Oceanside. We frolicked and played until we were covered in salt and sand. Max took a quick dip in the salty sea. It was actually quite amusing to watch as he was completely mesmerized by the waves and kept going out farther and farther until we thought we were going to loose him. We all came away with plenty of treasures. My greatest being the giant agate I stumbled upon. We of course couldn't leave until we filled our bellies full of Tillamook cheese and icecream. Tuesday we spent all day at the zoo checking out all the wild beasts. I was tempted to leave Evan with the monkeys and Dallin with the Wild-a-beasts but figured Matthew would miss them a bit. We explored Washington Park for a bit afterwards and did some geocaching and playing at the park. We came home exhausted. It was so great to have them here to show them around and to spend quality time with my sister. I LOVE my family!
That Saturday I participated in a run. I did the 10k and although I was a few minutes slower than I wanted to be it was great to be out and I came away with a blue ribbon for my age group and one of the coolest race t-shirts. We attended a birthday party that day at the roller rink and of course we forgot the camera, but we may have snagged something with Matthew's phone so I'll put that on later. I had not been in a very long time but I couldn't leave Evan hanging so I strapped on some wheels and we were off. Dallin had a blast groovin' to the music and chasing balloons around. We went home for a break before heading out to our ward Easter activity which was really Christ centered and very nice. We had a great Enrichment activity this month as well and they played this new video set to Come Thou Fount and I was bawling the whole time, it was really moving. So our Easter weekend was great and of course the boys found their baskets and chewed on candy all day after church.
The day after Easter was Dallin's 3rd birthday. We decorated the house and invited over the Nielsen cousins for some Scooby Doo cake. Dallin was so excited all day that he was the big birthday boy and Matthew was training him to say he was three with flare. If you would ask him he would take a minute to get his fingers right and then throw you the 3 sign with a loud "BAM" to go along. What a funny kid! He got a dart gun from Evan, some new McQueens of course from us and the Nielsens and then a GeoTrax train set with lots of track and he loves it all. I think he had a pretty good day. I can't believe he's 3 and I don't know about you but I think the terrible 2's have nothing on the horrific 3's, at least in my home. It's a good thing he's so stinkin' cute and cuddly or I'd send him to the zoo in a heartbeat for being such a wild beast. I love ya Dallin!
